Update on RPRA Approval of Blue Box Transition Plan Conditions

The Resource Productivity & Recovery Authority’s original approval of the Blue Box Transition Plan (BBTP) specified a series of conditions to be met. On January 27, 2023, RPRA informed Stewardship Ontario that the plan to meet Condition 3 (related to data security) had been approved. The approval letter is available on the RPRA website.

The earlier approval letters for Condition 2 (mitigating conflict of interest) and Condition 4 (maintaining performance during transition) are also available:

Stewardship Ontario’s implementation of Simplified Fee Setting in 2023 — as an alternative approach to the potential introduction of the Material Cost Differentiation (MCD) methodology — meant that the Condition 1 was no longer relevant.
