The Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks has provided notice of termination for the Municipal Hazardous or Special Waste (MHSW) program operated by Stewardship Ontario, pursuant to section 14 of the Waste Diversion Transition Act, 2016. The MHSW program, also known to consumers as the Orange Drop program, ceased operation on September 30, 2021. Further information about the MHSW wind up is available here.
Former MHSW materials are now collected and recycled under Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016 regulations, which are administered by the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA). Information on current recycling of Hazardous and Special Product (HSP) materials can be found on RPRA’s website.
