With the Blue Box Transition Plan on track for completion in 2025, Stewardship Ontario’s core focus in 2023 was to complete the transition as smoothly and efficiently as possible, minimizing the impact of the legacy Blue Box Program on the transition process.
Report highlights:
- Reduced our projected operating and transition costs by more than $18 million over the transition period.
- Reduced the compliance burden for stewards through the implementation of simplified fee setting. 97% of stewards have also been relieved of the need to report annual supply-to-market data to Stewardship Ontario.
- Continue to actively engage with the steward community to make the transition process as smooth and cost-effective as possible.
