INFORMATION ON RULES
The Rules that govern the Blue Box Program Plan are released annually in advance of the new program year. They are modified each year to:
- Address changes to dates
- Improve clarity and address issues that come to the attention of Stewardship Ontario
As your primary resource, and an indispensable reference tool, the Rules for stewards provide:
- A detailed definition of Blue Box terms
- Provisions to determine who is designated as a steward
- Requirements for filing steward reports
- Potential penalties and interests in the event of non-compliance
- Expectations with respect to providing and retaining data, including calculation methodology, packaging data and audit reports
- An explanation of what constitutes “resident in Ontario” for the purposes of the program
- The payment and reporting schedule for the given program year
